Research On Product Maturity Level Based On Life Cycle

Product Maturity Level is a comprehensive measure on complete degree of a product's inherent quality and reliability and applied degree of a product. Based on the evaluation on product maturity level, product developers can understand promptly the progress and fulfillment of product development so that the risk of product development can be effectively controlled, which can promote R&D and the cultivation of products, and continuously improve the products to expand the product market share.The purpose of this dissertation is to determine product mature level and evaluate product maturity, which can guide product developers to control those critical factors affecting product maturity in the whole product life cycle to ensure that products can effectively mature.First, this dissertation analyzed many domestic and international literatures about product maturity, and seized the research method. Second, the dissertation confirmed a general law of product maturity after careful analysis on the product life cycle and product mature process. Then, based on the thorough analysis on the relationship among product maturity level, technology readiness level, manufacturing readiness level and apply readiness level, characterization elements were attained. Then, according to the characterization elements of products and general rule of product maturity, this dissertation confirmed critical affect factors of product maturity, i.e., product design maturity, product manufacturing process maturity and product process support maturity, which laid a solid theoretical foundation in constructing an evaluation index system of product maturity. Finally, the dissertation, with token elements of product maturity considered, confirmed the product mature level, and defined the comment sets of product maturity evaluation index system after considering the affect elements of product maturity. Product maturity was evaluated based on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and several valuable conclusions with some possible research directions about product maturity were given.
