Study On The Farmers' Behavior During The Development And Utilization Of Straw

China is an agricultural country which has extremely rich straw resource. Straw is a renewable bio-mass energy resource, which contains rich cellulose, hemi-cellulose and lignin. For a long time, straw is the main fuel, the livestock feed and the organic fertilizers for the rural residents, and a small number of it is also the industrial raw materials and the base material for edible fungi. Hence, the utilization of straw, is not only the effective measures for the development of recycling economy, the promotion of energy consumption restructuring, the transformation of economic growth, the establishment of saving society; but also is the sound ways to fundamentally alleviate the tension of rural feed, fertilizer, fuel and industrial raw materials, to protect the ecological environment, to reduce the air pollution and increase income and achieve social and economic sustainable development. In recent years, with the actively promote and support from the state departments and local governments, comprehensive utilization of straw has made remarkable achievements, a number of straw panel, straw direct combustion power generation, straw biogas, straw gasification, straw briquette was built around. Meanwhile, the various forms of conservation tillage, rapid decomposition of straw to field, promotion the cultivation of edible fungi and other technology applications, enrich the comprehensive utilization of straw to a certain extent.Although in some regions the utilization of straw has made outstanding achievements in recent years, but there are still some problems. With the transfer of rural labor force, improvements in energy consumption structure and the application of various types of alternative raw materials, coupled with the high cost of straw utilization, poor economy, low level of industrialization, it began to appear a regional, seasonal, structural phenomenon of straw overstock, burning phenomenon of repeated violations, which not only waste resources, pollute the environment, but also cause the fire hazard and serious threat to transportation security. The utilization of straw remains low, the industry chain is short and the industry distribution is unreasonable. With the social progress and scientific and technological development, one should comprehensively utilize the straw with the scientific concept of development. Turning waste into wealth has become possible, and it is also a trend to build a conservation-oriented society and healthy environment.Based on the above background, this paper selected Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province as the study area. By doing the home-way survey, it studied the behavior of local rural residents in utilization of straw, analyzed the factors, and raised the relevant policy recommendations. This study was divided into the following areas:theoretical foundation and literature review; utilization of straw at home and abroad; descriptive analysis of household behavior in utilization of straw; using Probit model to analysis the influential factors of household behavior in utilization of straw in Zhenjiang City; draw conclusions and policy recommendations.
