In order to improve efficiency of operation, an organization now is changing to focus on research of sources of job stress instead of pursuing how to motivate the knowledge worker only. In the paper, from the perspective of cross-cultural the writer is trying to explore sources of job stress of local knowledge-workers in foreign-invested enterprises (abbr. FIE).In this paper, two ways with combination of theoretical analysis and empirical research are used to study the topic. In theoretical part, reviewing the definitions and characteristics of local knowledge-workers, work-related stress and job stress theory; then, focuses on work stress related theoretical results, including the content of work stress, job stress, work pressure measurement tools and considering cross-cultural affect the pressure for subsequent empirical research has laid a solid foundation. The part of empirical study is based on the interviews local knowlodge workers who are from foreign-invested enterprises on working pressure, then designed the questionnaire for pretest, the purpose of the first small-scale test is to remove some questions with low reliability, adjusted the questionnaire and distributed it along the coastal main cities such as Shenzhen, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Suzhou.The main conclusions of this study are as following:(1) Principle components factors of local FIE knowledge-worker's job stress:task of work as the highest sources of job stress, followed by time pressure, career development, organization culture & management style, individual ability, interpersonal relationship and social support, (2) Different factors of job stress were significantly affected by the variation of individual characteristics, such as variable gender, age, position and so on, (3) The sources of local FIE knowledge workers in the perception of job stress is no different, (4) the variation of qualification,work experience, positions affected the coping way to job stress.On the basis of the research results obtained, the author put forward some strategy to FIE managers in order to prevent the damage of job stress. Firstly, from an organizational point of view, foreign invested enterprises should strengthen the organizational culture and management systems training, combined with Chinese culture, enhance the organization's own culture and set up the integration of local culture, improve employee identification with organizational values. Secondly, from a personal point of view, individual can also adhere to physical execises, establish a social support network and upgrade oneself to improve their ability to correctly understand the rational thinking work pressure and establish their own immune system of job stress.This study expanded the study of job stress of local FIE knowledge workers and targeted the aim of exploring the source of job stress and proposing practical management strategies for foreign organizations and individuals on stress management. However, due to limitations of time and research level, there are some limitations in this thesis, such as the sample distribution region are concentrated and size of sample is small. The writer expected that future similar research can expand the size of sample and the sample may cover several areas to get a comprehensive result.
