Since The early 1990s, an upsurge of co-development taken place among countries in the Mekong River Sub-region. Amid these countries in the Great Mekong River Sub-region (GMS), Laos and China, as significant members, play important part in this development and cooperation.As Laos neighbors on another five coutries in the sub-region, it acts as a center area and channel between the region and Southeast Asia, which is stategically important. An agricultural country as it is now, Laos is blessed with rich nature resources, but it still lags behind in economy with traffic and information relatively inaccessible and poverty haunted. Fortunately, the exploitation of the Mekong River brings new dawn to Laos'development. The author did a research on GMS exploitation and Sino-Laos cooperation in a hope that Laos would keep up the pace with the market both regional and international, shake off poverty, and realize its industrialization and modernization. In the research, an analysis was made on Laos'investment environment, resource advantages as well as the possibility and importance of Sino-Laos cooperation.The essay mainly focuses on the condition, the main cooperative fields, the problems and prospect (Sino-Laos) in the process of GMS co-development. In addition, the author gives his own opinion on the way to enhance Sino-Laos economic cooperation and how to settle down disputies.
