China's hotel industry international development process started in the late 1970s. It mainly experienced Opening and Importing stage (1979 -1988), Absorption and Imitation stage (1989 -1998) and Development and Innovation stage (1999-so far). In the late 1990s, the development of China's hotel industry is ups and downs. There appeared many problems. For example, the overall supply exceeded the demand, and the hotel industry economic benefits appeared to decline. China's hotel industry began to explore how to add Chinese elements into the internationalization, and create different competitive advantages. Then the innovation of the hotel industry is booming. There are four main types of the innovation of the hotel industry. They are theme hotel, green hotel, property hotel and convention hotel. The development of the present era in China calls for the theme hotels, and the fierce competition needs the theme hotels. The research and discussion for the theme hotel is imminent. All over the country are trying to build theme hotel, so it become one of the focus of attention of the China's hotels.Theme hotel originates from the United States. In1958, California Maria inn showed 12 theme hotel rooms. It is the mark of establishment of theme hotel. The development of theme hotel is very mature in foreign countries. But our theme hotel industry is not mature. There are also many problems existing in theme hotels, such as inaccurate orientation, superficial theme culture construction, incomprehensive guiding theory and so on.This paper mainly stated the influential factors about the construction of Heilongjiang University theme hotel and how to construct it. This paper also explores new ideas that we can use regional culture and the advantage of campus culture to construct theme culture hotel. It has important meaning of guidance for practical work.
