The Technological Progress Of China's Pharmaceutical Industry Path Selection

Pharmaceutical industry is closely related to human's existence and health, so it plays a significant role in each country's industry system and economic development. The pharmaceutical industry made the most rapid development among all industries in China. However, we are worrying about the current situation of pharmaceutical industry in our country. As a typical technology-intensive industry, the pharmaceutical industry is weak when it comes to innovation and lack of medicines with independent intellectual property rights. The capital contributes much to the growth of pharmaceutical industry than the technological progress. The growth of pharmaceutical industry in our country is still stuck in an extensive mode. Nowadays, with the deeper development of economic globalization, pharmaceutical industry in our country shows an obvious shortage. The technological progress, more than anything, most constrains the growth of pharmaceutical industry.The article analyses the contribution rate of technological progress to China's pharmaceutical industry using the Solow Complementary method. The calculation result shows that the contribution of technological progress to the growth of pharmaceutical industry is very low, however, capital investment mainly promote the development of China's pharmaceutical industry.This paper analyses the gap between China's pharmaceutical industry and the foreign pharmaceutical industry and founds that the problems of the pharmaceutical industry of our country. So, we can find the reasons for the slow technological progress of the pharmaceutical industry mainly through discussing about the R&D model, R&D Investment and R&D output. Meanwhile, researching the trend of foreign pharmaceutical industry can help our pharmaceutical industry develop better under the international standards.In the end, some improving measures for technological progress based on the analysis of the current situation of China's pharmaceutical industry are given. The Government should put forward fiscal policy, direct financial resources, improve intellectual property protection system, and train technical professionals. The pharmaceutical companies should strengthen the ability of imitative innovation to achieve the accumulation of technology, actively carry out cooperation innovation for resource advantage and attempt to achieve independent innovation so as to enhance its international competitiveness.
