Empirical Research On Technological Progress Contribution Rate Of Jiangsu Province’s Manufacturing Industry

Manufacturing plays an important role in national economy as an mainstay industry, it’s development has an direct effect in the state’s economic development and it’s people’s living standard. And then, it decides the nation’s ability to compete and cooperate in the trend of global economic integration and modernization. Jiangsu Province is a big province in manufacture development of our country, it has contributed a lot to GDP and our country manufacturing industry. Therefore, it is very important to the companies and all the manufacturing industry to develop research in-depth for the relationship between technological progress and manufacturing industry of Jiangsu Province, have a correct understanding of important role of technological progress in economic development.In the basis of Solow model and method, this paper calculated the contribution made by technological progress to manufacturing industry of Jiangsu Province and it’s dynamic changes in the years of 2003-2012. It turns out that in the years of 2004-2006,The contribution rate of progress in technology to the Jiangsu Province’s manufacturing industry has been increasing from 26.13% to 67.17%, at the same time, the contribution rate of labor force has been declining from 52.69% to 24.03%, it suggests that in this period the manufacturing industry of Jiangsu Province has went through a transition from the kind of labor-intensive to knowledge-intensive. And the contribution rate of technological progress of Jiangsu Province’s manufacturing industry has kept in about 60%, which is higher than the national average rate.And then research on the factors which affect the contribution rate, with the analysis of the key factors and the multiple linear regression method, the key factors refer to the absorption of technology, the import of technology, the scale of the industry, FDI and the high-tech industry. It shows that:the absorption of technology has the most significant positive effect, the scale of industry dos also, but not very extraordinary, and the import of technology has a bad effect. So, autonomous innovation and expansion of the scale of the industry can make the technology progress of Jiangsu Province’s manufacturing industry, over reliance on the import of technology may preclude the development of the technology.At last, the paper makes some recommendations, which have important strategic meanings in Jiangsu Province’s development.
