Gear cutter is not only the important part of the process of the gear machining butalso the critical key which will influence the enterprise manufacture cost. In recentyears, there are more and more quantity and different kinds of the gear cutter along withthe expansion of the enterprise scale and the constant development of the advancedmanufacture technology. However, as for the tool information management, enterprisesare still laggard in that aspect, and there are many drawbacks. Thus, carrying out theresearch of gear cutter manage system has very important theoretical significance andengineering value.Based on the research of the present situation of tool management system and thedevelopment trend of domestic and abroad, the complete information database of thegear cutter has been established and the gear cutter management system which managesefficiently and has economic and perfect functions has been developed from severalaspects:system function requirement、database construction design and function modelsrealization. The major contents of this thesis are as follows:①In this thesis, according to the actual situation of the company, the need of thegear cutter management system have been analyzed in detail, the system function framehas been constructed and the design features of the main functional models have beenanalyzed in detail, e. g. the gear cutter information management, the registration andmanagement of input-output information, the records and management of the grindinginformation, the management to the abandoned gear cutters and report output. Then thesystem operation flow chart and information flow chart have been designed.②According to the need of the system function, the gear cutter informationdatabase has been created. The concept construction design has been completed, E-Rmodel has been constructed, then logical construction design、the relationship amongthe datasheets and the design of the stored procedure have been completed.③The critical technology, including Structure Query Language (SQL for short)programming technology、ActiveX Data Object database access technology、transactionprocessing technology、Excel output technology, which make the system be successfullyrealized, have been analyzed, and these technology`s application in the systemdevelopment process has been introduced in detail.④By using C/S model as the develop model of the system, Microsoft Visual Basic6.0as the develop tool of the client interface and SQL Server2000as the supportof the database, the interface design and the function models`design and developmentof the gear cutter management system have been completed.The test and operation has manifested that the system function has met the actualneed essentially and has certain theoretical significance and engineering significance.
