Carbon dioxide emissions caused by the energy consumption is a serious threat to the sustainable development of the global economy. Therefore, energy conservation has become the trend of the times. The development of low-carbon economy is an important way to achieve energy conservation.Gansu Province, located in China’s northwest inland resources in the province, but also the country’s major old industrial base. Long-term development of the coal-dominated energy consumption structure and industrial economic structure, the the Gansu Province carbon emissions increasing trend. Therefore, Gansu Province, faces the same strategic choice of how to take a low-carbon economy.The paper first analyzes the research background and significance of carbon emissions, and meticulous combing research advances and related theory to sort out the research ideas to determine the research methodology and framework. Secondly, the IPCC published calculation method to estimate the total carbon emissions, Gansu Province1994-2010year, and the analysis of the current situation analysis and influencing factors, And then take advantage of the multiple regression model analysis of the explanatory variables have a significant impact on the carbon emissions of Gansu Province, The results showed that:economic development, industrial structure and energy consumption structure is the main reason for the increase in carbon emissions in Gansu Province, at the same time, the level of urbanization, the level of investment in fixed assets and transport traffic mileage is also important reasons.
