Urban traffic congestion and environment contamination have become common problems all over the world. Urban rail transit has become the best choice on releasing urban pressure for its advantages, such as large volume, punctual, speediness, environmental protection. Compared with the subway and light rail, modern tram has some advantages of low investment and short construction period. Meanwhile, it’s one of the ways to solve the urban problems in small and medium cities.At present, the related study of modern tram especially Operation Control System (OCS) is less, thus it is of great significance to research the operation control technology. In order to offer the study and testing platform for modern tram OCS, it is necessary to design an Environment Simulation System (ESS).In this thesis, the standards and functional requirements of modern tram OCS were analyzed, the functional requirements of ESS were analyzed and the structure of ESS was designed. On this basis, the ESS was constructed. Main contents obtained in this thesis are as follows:Firstly, the composition and function of modern tram OCS was analyzed, and then the operation scene of modern tram was described in detail.Secondly, the functional requirements of ESS were analyzed and the main scheme of ESS, including general structure and interface of ESS, was designed.Thirdly, the scheme of wayside ESS software was designed, and then the software of wayside ESS was developed based on PC and Windows system, mainly including interlocking module, section occupied module, balise module and so on.Fourthly, the scheme of carborne ESS software was designed, on this basis the software of carborne ESS was developed based on PC and Windows system, including console module and kinematic model.Fifthly, the train-ground wireless communication unit which used for balise was developed based on the JN5139with ZigBee protocol, including hardware and software.Finally, the operation control ESS was constructed, on this basis, the integrated debugging was completed. The result shows that ESS can offer technical support for study and testing of modern tram OCS.
