The problems of environmental pollution and traffic congestion which is caused by automobile-oriented transportation mode have become serious, so the development of urban rail transit public transportation has already been focused on. Compared with subway and light rail, a modern tram has the advantages of less investment and short construction period, it’s one of important ways to solve the traffic problems in medium and small cities.Operation control system (OCS) which is compatible with vehicle system, traction power supply system and line system is the backbone of a modern tram system, it has the function to protect security and improve operational efficiency. At present, the study in OCS of the modern tram is still in its infancy. Therefore, the in-depth study of OCS has a great significance.Using for reference other rail OCS technologies, a transport organization and regional control integrated design on the modern tram system was presented. On this basis, the novel central operation control system (COCS) was developed. The main work in this thesis as follows:Firstly, the business processes of the modern tram system and the functional requirement of the transport organization and regional control were analyzed. Then the concept of transport organization and regional control integrated design was presented.Secondly, COCS was divided into three parts:human-machine interaction subsystem (HMIS), dispatching management subsystem (DMS) and security protection subsystem (SPS). Moreover, the internal and external interface designs of COCS were complicated.Thirdly, the overall software structure design of HMIS was completed. Human-machine interface, manual operation and other major models were designed. On this basis, HMIS function software was developed.Fourthly, the overall software structure design of DMS was completed. The schedule management, automatic route setting and other major models were designed. On this basis, DMS function software was developed.Fifthly, the overall software structure design of SPS was completed. The movement authority, train information processing and other major models were designed. On this basis, SPS function software was developed. Sixthly, based on Zigbee chip, the wireless communication simulation unit on ground-to-car was developed, including hardware and software development.Finally, the modern tram novel COCS was built and the functional verification was carried out. The results show that the concept of the integrated design is correct, the novel COCS meets the functional requirement of modern tram.
