The construction vibration control is a new quake-proof technology in Civil engineering, which has many advantages over the traditional seismic design method, and a lot of progresses in practical engineering application are made. In this paper, the application of viscoelastic damper in the frame structure is one kind of research on the passive energy dissipation technology. The viscoelastic damper has many advantages such as its simple structure, convenience, practical property, low cost, short construction period, etc. It can be used in various fields such as reducing wind vibration of various engineering structure, aseismic and control of seismic responses, the reinforcement of structure, repairing after an earthquake, etc. The main contents of the thesis are given as follow:1. The mechanical property and hysteretic mode of the viscoelastic damper are discussed, and the calculation models of the viscoelastic tuned mass damper are established. The effects of the brace stiffness to performance parameters of energy dissipation set are discussed.2. The analysis and the design of viscoelastic energy dissipation structure are introduced, the important parameter and required number of the viscoelastic damper are deduced.3. The research object is based on a10-floor reinforced concrete structure. Two structure systems such as structure frame and frame structure with viscoelastic damper are used to build up as two finite element models by using the finite element software. The natural vibration period analysis and the dynamic time-history analysis of the structures are obtained, the comparison about the seismic response(displacement, acceleration, velocity and story shear, etc.) of two working conditions is compared. It is proved that the seismic performance of the structure can be effectively improved when the structure equipped with viscoelastic dampers.4. The optimal analysis of the placement of viscoelastic dampers is done. The optimal layout of the frame structure is made by using various optimal layout methods. The results of the seismic response of every working condition are obtained after analysis and comparing. In addition, we summarize the structural features of the optimal layout of viscoelastic damper.
