| Faced with the dual challenges of urbanization and motorization, the traffic problemsare increasingly serious not only in the coastal cities but in the small and medium-sized cites ofmountainous areas. As the effective means to relieve urban traffic problems, the developmentof public transportation are attached more and more importance. Influenced by geographicallocation, topography condition, the size of city, space layout and other factors, there are greatdifferences between big cities and the mountainous small and medium-sized cities in cityconstruction and transportation characteristics. Therefore, the planning of public transport inmountainous area of small and medium-sized cities should take their own characteristics intoaccount so as to make suitable planning of development. Based on the analysis of the trafficcharacteristics of the small and medium-sized city in the mountainous area as well as theexperience learning from the big cities, the paper makes a research on the methods of publictransport planning in the mountainous small and medium-sized cities.Through the investigation of the dwellers’ travel and the current situations of publictransport development, the macro control over the public transport development environment, the public transit network planning of prediction and planning from the overall situation indifferent divisions and levels are proposed on the basis of the analysis of the characteristic aswell as the main factors influencing the urban transit network planning. The method firstdescribes how the land utilization influences the urban dwellers’ travel from variousperspectives, using GIS to analyze the situations of space layout and land utilization in thesmall and medium-sized cities of mountainous cities and then constructs the model to makeprediction in different divisions. And then the method integrates the overall consideration overthe future urban layout and hierarchical planning into a net. Finally, taking some small andmedium-sized city in south mountainous areas as an instance, in combination with its urbandevelopment plan, the feasible transit network planning is made based on the analysis of thepresent situation of the public transport development and the bus passenger flow. |
