As the last link in the process of generating, transmitting, and distributingelectrical energy, power distribution directly connects with customers as theterminal of power grid, so it can keenly reflect customers’ requirement in safety,quality, and economy. It is great importance in generating electric power. Withthe increasingly developed economy and gradually enhanced living standard,the complexity of power grid is increased, so users have proposed higherdemand for the quality and reliability of power supply. In order to better meetcustomers’ need for electricity, it is imperative to enhance various operationindexes of power supply companies in an all-around way, and to developdistribution automation.First, this paper thoroughly understands and analyzes the current status ofdistribution automation in both China and abroad. Then, by combing the actualsituation of Kangbashi, and according to the principles of distribution, itproposes plans for distribution automation of the construction area from theperspectives such as the primary grid structure, establishment of primarystation and sub-station for distribution automation, distribution terminal station, and communications system in terms of the overall balance.Kangbashi distribution automation adopts three-layer architecture, whichis also named the "main station+sub-station+distribution terminal terminal".The distribution main station adopts the scale design covering the whole OrdosGrid and the sub-station makes use of communication collection model, bothof which take charge of the collecting and transmitting data in terms ofestablishing two110kV transformer substations. Because all the medium-voltage lines of this project adopt cable placing, while without overhead line,ring-network cabinet segmentation is adopted, which is used to take charge ofcollecting data and implementing the control command of the main stationstogether with distribution terminal unit (DTU). With regard to optical fibertransmission utilized by the communication system, the communication frommain station to sub-station is the backbone layer, while the communication ofthe access layer from each terminal to sub-station adopts the Ethernet passiveoptical network program (PON) with high reliability and excellentexpansibility.The establishment of distribution automation projects in Kangbashi canreduce the scope of power failures, shorten the time of power failure, improvethe quality of power supply, enhance the reliability of power supply, enhance the power supply capability, and reduce the network loss. Reducing theimpacts that power failure imposed on social production will enhance thecustomer service level in the area, effectively strengthen the communicationand exchange between power supply enterprises and users, and enhancesatisfaction degree of government and the common people to the electricpower industry, thus establishing favorable social image.
