As the development of power system, and the increasingly higher demanding to the reliability, transport, supply and using of electricity, China State Grid Corporation has explicitly put forward objectives of the reliability of power supply to achieve 99.96%. At the same time, with the rapid development of sensor technology, communication technology, as well as computer processing technology, smart grid technology, especially the intelligent distribution network technology has been also got rapid development.According to the current development situation of State Grid Corporation, with the present development situation of China State Grid Corporation, the current distribution network is still relatively weak, and the distribution network antomation, intellectualization and self-healing and optimizing operationability are all far below the transmission network in our country, due to the idea of "attaching great importance to the transmission despise distribution" for a long time. Meanwhile, the out-dated distribution network is the main factor that caused deterioration of power quality, and nearly haif of the power system’s loss is generated in the distribution network. As a result, the construction of the intelligent distribution network has become an inevitable trend for the development of electric power industry in our country. Since 2009, responsing to the call of state grid corporation actively, Shandong electric power group company has been increasing investment in distribution network project, and promoting the intelligent management of the distribution network comprehensively in China.The topology analysis of distribution network is based on the connection of the electrical components, the throughout the distribution network as a combination of points and lines and the topological graph, and then according to the power supply node and a switch node for connection of the entire network topology analysis, it is the distribution network state estimation, tidal flow calculation, fault location, isolation and restoration of power supply, network reconfiguration for other analysis foundation.The structure of distribution network is a large and complex, network structure due to the fault or load transfer operation the switch opening and closing, often change. As the basis of distribution network analysis, network topology calculation need to be improved, so a good network topology algorithm is needed urgently.. The algorithm of network topology should be effective and intuitive. It can not only meet the requirements for the distribution network automation in the different advanced function should also be able to realize fast tracking and identification of the distribution network connectivity, to adapt to the change event. At the same time also should save storage space and other advanced computing function of time. At present, there are some aspects of the existing researches in this field, such as correlation table matrix representation, net matrix representation, node elimination, tree search, and discrete processing.The writing of this paper follows the principle that intelligent pilots are first conducted, as well as the implementation of the project is step by step yearly, with the the construction and effect of distribution network automation in laiwu being analyzed emphatically. By referring to the relevant literature and checking the development trend of current distribution network automation, the project of upgrading and rebuilding of the power distribution automation system in the future were analyzed, combining with the current situation of the development of laiwu region distribution network. Meanwhile, the reasonable retrofitting scheme are also put forward. In addition, according to the effect in the process of actual implementation, the planning scheme was adjusted timely, to creat the power supply network of "strong, reliable, intelligent and green", as well as to construct the intelligent power distribution network characterized with "self-healing, compatible, interactive, optimal", which is efficient and practical, and with the capacity of sustainable development. According to the load characteristic of pilot area, combining with the principle of transformation, automation reconstruction of the primary equipment of distribution network and the network frame structure transformation were comducted, to realize the antomatic upgrade of the primary equipment and the terminal of the power distribution network, taking advantage of power distribution network to realize the applications of information interaction. Along with the background analysis how to achieve the optimizing operation of the network, the automatic isolation of the breakdown, and the recovery of the power transmission, the power supply reliability of the laiwu distribution network is improved eventually. Together, the fault shutdown time of the distribution line is greatly reduced, with the degree of satisfaction of the users being improved, the management and operation ability being enhanced, and the excellent operation of the distribution network being achieved.
