The intelligent of the power meter is a product of the rapid development of information. It is also imperative that the automatic meter reading systems replace the previous manual door meter reading systems.This thesis has discussed several meter reading systems, and has analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of them. Then put forward the dual Ethernet port concentrator for automatic meter reading system based on EPON technology. This thesis first analyze the optical reading system architecture where the concentrator in. Then focus on the need of the concentrator to achieve the function. Finally compile the software design of the concentrator and having functional testing. The concrete expansion work of the paper is:Firstly, analyze the common meter reading systems, which including the485-meter reading system, power line carrier meter reading system and wireless meter reading system. Then analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each and summarize the realization of the necessity of the concentrator in the fiber optic meter reading system. And this dual Ethernet port concentrator can only directly with2040with ONU optical module of the power meter through the optical fiber network directly connected, which can also be connected directly via Ethernet with the master server. This system is fast, efficient, stable meter reading system.Secondly, according to this research framework of the fiber optical reading system, the thesis put forward the dual Ethernet port concentrator functional requirements. Choosing ARM9chip NXP3250core board for hardware support equipment, It is convenient to the expansion of peripheral communication module compatible. The thesis completed application design based on the Linux operating system software platform support, and it is easy to cut out the functions.Lastly, in accordance with the functional requirements of the concentrator and data streaming direction, the thesis put forward the overall design concept of the the concentrator application layer software. The thesis design division of the four functional modules, respectively, for the communication layer, protocol parsing and conversion layer, protocol processing layer and application layer. Parallel execution of code writing multithreaded multitasking, setting structure variables and file stream to save variables. In this way, the stability of the system has been greatly improved. The thesis has also finished the test of the reading system.Presently, the meter reading system has a functional test in the laboratory, and the successful ratio exceeded97%.
