Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, modern ship presents the trend of large-scale and automation. The continuity, reliability and quality of electricity powered by marine electric power system have a direct influence on technical specifications, economic indicators and vitality of ships. Therefore, the process of monitoring, management and control of ship power station becomes increasingly important. In the present research, the protection and paralleling unit of ship power station is designed according to the related information provided by the domestic and overseas power station as well as the PPU product of DIFF Company. The direction of the research is to explore the adoption and innovation of marine embedded technology with computer science at the core.The main functions and operating principles of the protection and paralleling unit are presented. The present research also elaborates the signal acquisition circuit including voltage signal acquisition circuit, current signal acquisition circuit and frequency acquisition circuit. Furthermore, calculation principle of triphase factor and the overall design plan of the protection and paralleling unit are introduced. Moreover, circuit design of the whole system is illustrated including Altium Designer Summer09, the development environment of hardware design and how to choose the component and connect the circuit. And the research demonstrates LPC2132, the processor core on ARM and ADS1.2, the software development environment utilized in the present research. It also shows how the unit controls the display screen and keys, the protection of parametric, automatic parallel operation and other functions.In the final section, the methodology and process of the communication debugging of the protection and paralleling unit as well as the upper computer is illustrated. The circuit board has been debugged. Based on the debugging results and design principles, the unit could achieve the function of protection and paralleling of the power station.
