With the urgent needs of increasing global container transportation safety, especially the growing demand for container tracking and supervision of dangerous goods, military supplies and key goods, the use of GPS location tracking technology in the application of ocean transportation and remote mountainous areas encounters with a lot of restrictions, and strategic security can not be guaranteed. How to ensure the security of container transport, as well as to ensure the effectiveness of the container supervisory control system has also become an important research topic in the field of transportation.The application and development of the container supervision system can help all aspects of the container to monitor the current state of the container and manage the container transport, improve efficiency of shipping companies, container terminals, container management scheduling, reduce the accident rate, effectively prevent the theft of illegal immigrants and other illegal crime. In application of satellite positioning and short message communication of the BeiDou system, combined with the use and development of the component GIS, this paper comes up with the prototype system of container real-time supervisory control based on the BeiDou system. The container supervisory control system consists of monitor terminal, communication link and supervisory control center. Based on analyzing the function requirements of the container supervisory control system deeply, this paper presents the general structure of the system and divides the system into function modules. It achieves the function of container location tracking, status monitoring, historical trajectory queries, automatic alarm and so on, to help the container dispatching administration get the status and positioning information of the containers in time and meet the basic requirements of the container supervisory control system.Container supervisory control system is a systematic project involving satellite positioning, data communications, GIS applications, software development and database technology. There are various factors should be taken into account in the actual development process. This paper mainly focuses on the design and development of the container supervisory control system. It chooses the C#as the development language, SQL Server2005as system database, ArcGIS Engine as the map display platform, and combined with BeiDou satellite positioning technology and communication technology, achieves container supervisory control prototype system. This study is a great useful exploration of the intelligent container transport management.
