Pituitary tumor transforming gene binding factor is a secreted protein found in recent years, widely present in human tissues, highly expressed in thyroid cancer, breast cancer and other malignant tumors, and highly relevant with pituitary tumor transforming gene. It may be associated with pituitary tumor transforming gene or independently involved in tumor formation through a variety of mechanisms, and have a close relationship with tumor invasiveness. PBF is with great value for cell transformation, proliferation and tumor formation. In differentiated thyroid carcinoma, PBF is closely related to the occurrence and prognosis of thyroid cancer and has a close relationship with iodine uptake of the throid. It may become the target gene of thyroid cancer. PBF possesses a oestrogen response elements, and estrogen treatment on breast cancer cells transfected with PBF will increase its invasiveness, indicating that PBF involved in the estrogen-mediated breast cancer development.In-depth study on the PBF gene structure, mechanism of action, further regulation of transcription and expression is good for the diagnosis, treatment and improving prognosis. Through detection PBF expression, we can get early prevention and early treatment. This article summarized the research progress of the PBF gene structure, expression and its role in thyroid cancer and breast cancer development in recent years.
