This is a translation project report on The Golden Road by Lucy MaudMontgomery, of which Chapter5“The First Number of Our Magazine” and Chapter6“Great-Aunt Eliza’s Visit” are the source texts. Of the source texts, Chapter5ismainly about the detailed contents of Our Magazine, including Editorial, Personals,ADS. Household Department, Etiquette Department, Fashion Notes, FunnyParagraphs, General Information Bureau, and Stories etc.; some funny stories aboutthe visit of King’s great-aunt Eliza who is old and deadly deaf are the main contentsof Chapter6. This report is divided into four parts: Part One is a description of thetranslation project, including the project background, objectives, significance and thestructure of the report. Part Two is an introduction to the background of the sourcetext, including the author introduction, the original version, the main contents of thesource text, and the analysis of the source text. Part Three is a description of thetranslation difficulties and methods. Due to cultural differences between Chinese andwestern society, especially religious cultural differences, it is difficult to reappear thelively and humorous style of the original text completely. The methods include:amplification, omission, conversion, and division. Part Four concludes with theimplication and lessons in the translation project.
