Red has its unique meaning and charm in the broad and profound Chinese culture. Inthe past thousands of years, the denotation and connotation of red, which is an ancient andfestive color, are changing constantly and enriched day by day.This thesis did research on red culture from3aspects: the auspicious meaning in redculture, the taboo in red culture and the heritage of red culture in Chinese society. It is along time since the red color was used in Chinese society. Through the thorough collectionand classification on the significance of Chinese red culture, this paper analyzed thecustom of Chinese red culture in depth, pointed out the reason why Chinese worship redcolor: the formation of Chinese red complex not only has profound historical and cultureorigins, but also make up and suggest the Chinese psychological deficiency. Fromgeneration to generation, the love of red has been integrated into the soul of Chinesepeople. Chinese red became the indispensable color in people’s lives, like the backgroundof our culture. It is the symbol of the spirit of Chinese nation, which plays a unique role invarious periods of Chinese society.
