This is a translation project report on the fifth chapter named Memory from thepopular psychological work A User’s Guide to the Brain(chapter five) by John Ratey.As one of his many published books, this one has carried on his style of starting withintriguing examples, and then naturally led them to scientific explanations. The authorhas generally employed popular and common language to make it easier for the publicto understand those abstruse psychological knowledge and phenomena. As anexperimental subject in psychology, physiopsychology tends to explain the examplesinvolved through scientific researches and experiments. The text for translation ismainly about some definitions, examples and explanations related to memory. Thisreport is mainly divided into four parts. The first part is a brief introduction to thisproject, including background, target, the significance and process involved in thistranslation task. The second part is about the preparation made before translationbegan, such as reference to the books of the same subject and the translated works ofthe same category. The third part is a summary to the difficulties appeared and tacticsused in translation. In this part, the writer pays close attention to words translation,which involves the use of nouns, verbs and adjectives and adverbials. Last but not theleast; a general summary will be made about the inspirations, shortcomings andproblems unsolved in the process of translation.
