This is a translation project report for Chapter7and Chapter9of ElectronicTools for Translators by Frank Austernühl. Chapter7discusses several methods ofmanaging terminology and provides detailed instructions on how to use a specific TMsystem, Trados’MultiTerm’95Plus. Chapter9firstly explains the basic conceptsbehind translation memory system and software localization, then shows the operatingprocedures of two of the market-leading product, the translation memory systemTranslator’s Workbench by Trados, and the localization tool Catalyst by Corel.This paper is composed of four parts. The first part presents a general view ofthe background, objectives and significance of this translation project. The secondpart briefly discusses information about the book’s author, and then focuses on themain contents and language characteristics of Chapter7and Chapter9. Then the thirdpart describes the preparatory work of the project, translation difficulties during theprocess of translating and translation techniques used in tackling these difficulties. Inthe last part, this paper emphasizes not only the experiences and lessons gained fromthe project, but also limitations of the paper and prospects for further study.
