As a premise of teaching Chinese for foreigners,a huge amount input of thecomprehensible Chinese materials is vital for the learners who,in turn must be able toconvert them into effective output.Namely,the input from Chinese class should becomprehensible,which will greatly improve the learners’ language ability.English translationin the the Foreign Students-oriented Chinese Textbooks,the aid means of the textbookcontent is vital for Chinese acquisition.Only accurate and effective English translation ofthe text,to make foreign students to better understand the target language.However,thereare some problems of English translation and it should be further explored.The differencesbetween Chinese and English make it almost impossible to find completely equivalence intranslation.This article tries to find means to solve the issue of non-equivalence ever sincewe met this problem.Based on the examples of the Foreign Students-oriented ChineseTextbooks,the paper is divided into three parts:the first one is a summary of thenon-equivalence in Chinese-to-English translation;then,we further discuss the categories ofthe non-equivalence combing with the examples of the textbooks.After that,some translation strategies and teaching principles be put forward to solvenon-equivalence,and enough necessary lexical and cultural information be added forreadability. In fact, the paper intends to help foreigners catch the exact meaning of thetextbooks and comprehend something about Chinese culture.
