| News, as we know, is playing the increasingly important role in thetransformation of information. News translation, online news translation in particular,is developing at a shooting speed. Accordingly, researches on news translation areattracting more and more interest from the translation scholars.In the process of translation, translator’s comprehension of the context in whichnews occurs and target readers’ expectation exert a profound impact on the success of anews translation. This thesis, based on the author’s news translation practice atwww.enghunan.com, focuses on analyzing such difficulties the author experienced innews translation in news lexicon translation as proper nouns, culture-loaded phrasesand the juxtapositions of verbs and adjectives. Through a comparative analysis, theauthor illustrates some techniques of translating news lexicons. The author proposesthat translating Chinese news lexicons into English should take into full considerationthe context in which news occurs, pay full respect to the English readers’ expectationand try to produce an as smooth and natural as possible translation complying with theEnglish language norms. |
