Vocabulary teaching is an important part in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and it is based on the textbook word lists. In the existing Chinese Language Textbooks for Overseas Learners, most of the words are translated directly into a foreign language, which leads to the plight of "same-translated word" when the meaning of two words are almost the same in Chinese. And this kind of situation make the Chinese learners confused, and in result they will make all kinds of mistakes while using these words. This paper focus on the words which is translated in English in Chinese text book for oversea learners, by observing and classifying the translation equivalents in bounded materials of both elementary and intermediate levels, it explores why translation equivalents occur and makes an error analysis induced by translation equivalents. Moreover, we try to give some advice on the writing of the Chinese textbook and the way to deal with the same translated words via analyzing the errors produced by the foreign learners. The thesis is mainly composed of several parts as follows:The first chapter is the introduction, mainly elaborated the present condition of the research, the basic historical materials and the significance of this topic. The second chapter is based on the list of words in basic and inter mediate Chinese textbook, we try to classify the same translated words from the perspective of the semantic source, semanteme and part of speech. And we analyses the causes of the production of the same translated words from the following three aspects: the nationality of the meaning of the words, the complication of the translation, and the subjectivity of the translator. Chapter three is aimed to analyze the errors made by the learners in "inter language corpus" and classify the errors into different types, try to find out the caused of these errors. In Chapter four, we give some suggestions on both teachers’ methods dealing with the translation of words and how to reduce the same translated words on the textbook.
