Logic Reproduction In Chinese-English Consecutive Interpretation

When doing consecutive interpretation, interpreters have time to analyze the logicand gist of a speech before giving an output. The quality of interpretation depends oninterpreters’ ability to grasp the logic and use skills of discourse cohesion to deliver themessage and emotion to audiences. Addressing logic related problems in consecutiveinterpretation is quite urgent to the author’s need. Only by removing this bottleneck couldinterpretation be improved. Hence, based on interpretative theory and the consecutiveinterpretation case of "Brand Building" in Shanghai Forum, the article aims to analyze theabsence of logic reproduction in the author’s interpretation and make correction, thendiscusses the methods of logical training in listening, note-taking and interpretation outputregarding differences between Chinese and English. The main approaches includeproficiently using and taking notes of logical connectives, reasonable imagination andspeculation, horizontal and vertical training, etc.
