Chinese and English have huge difference in language structure in terms of logic,because Chinese is paratactic while English is hypotactic.This difference makes it difficult to demonstrate good logic in Chinese to English consecutive interpretation,in which assistance of notes is of paramount importance.This paper studies different types of logic mess in target language and the reasons of the logic mess in the author's interpretation of a mock conference,A Debate on Chinese Industrial Policies,and gives specific coping strategies.The speaker of the mock conference had complicated logic and the language was highly paratactic,which was typical Chinese.The author basically interpreted the content of the speech and the speaker's intention,but with logic mess.The author used record and transcript to review the interpretation of the mock conference.The logic mess in this case can be categorized into three types: logic missing,logic mistakes and loose logic.The author provides examples,analysis and suggested interpretation of every type.The reasons of logic mess can be categorized into two types of note-taking mistakes: logic linking words,and primary and second information.The author provides coping strategies specific to these two types of reasons.It is anticipated that this paper can provide reference for other interpreters to solve similar problems and corpus for the academic society to research into similar subjects.
