The University moment is a key stage the youth identity form and certain. Forethnic minority adolescents, they entered mainstream cultures from their familiarmother culture, not only, their ethnic identity changed, but also, their self-identityretested, the reconstruction of identification affected the level of self-esteem to someextent. Studies have shown that, ethnic identity have positive prediction function forself-esteem, self-identity also have certain effect on self-esteem.Based on the217Uighur college students and126Han nationality students, put to use quantitative andqualitative research, explores the relationship of the Uighur and Han college students’ethnic identity,self-identity,self-esteem in the multicultural background, The resultswere as follows:(1)SEIS had good reliability and validity, and the Scale included15items, hadthree dimensions: exploration, affirmation and confirmation.(2)In general, Uighur and Han college students had a strong ethnic identity.Uighur students’ ethnic identity was significantly higher than Han students. Amongthem, the two dimensions of exploration and confirmation were significantly higher.(3)Overall, the development of Uighur and Han college students’ self-identitywas well. Uighur students’ self-identity was significantly higher than Han students.Among them, the Uighur students in three levels of concept of time, role to try andvalue were significantly higher, in the professional intend and Master-slave essaywere significantly lower, the difference in the sex differentiation and the selfassurance was not significant.(4)Ethnic identity and self-esteem had moderate positive correlation; ethnicidentity had positive prediction function for self-esteem.(5)There were a significant positive correlation between self-identity andself-esteem, the better the individual identity, the higher the level of self-esteem.(6) Ethnic identity and self-identity had positive correlation; ethnic identity hadpositive prediction function for self-identity.(7)Ethnic identity to the effect of self-esteem was through the self-identity. |
