The Phonetic Contrast Between Chinese And Portuguese

In the view of contrastive research theory, the consonants and vowels between Chinese and Portuguese are compared in this paper. On the basis of phonetic contrast, the difficult parts in learning Chinese phonetics for Portuguese students are predicted by using the predicting ability of contrastive research. At last, some practical and effective teaching strategies are promoted to meet the needs of Portuguese students.In general, this paper consists of two sections. To begin with, this paper presents the research of phonetic contrast, which supported by three parts:First, the matter of alphabets of Chinese and Portuguese; secondly, the analysis of consonants; third, the analysis of vowels. Furthermore, the specific teaching strategies are summarized gradually.The matter of Chinese alphabets and Portuguese ones are comprised of three parts:1. The pronunciation of Chinese alphabets;2. The pronunciation of Portuguese alphabets;3. The summary of similarities and differences between Chinese alphabets and Portuguese alphabets in terms of the phoneme theory.There are three parts lie in the analysis of vowel systems:1. The comparison of vowel systems between Chinese and Portuguese;2. The conclusion of difficulties for Portuguese students learning Chinese vowels;3. The teaching strategies for solutions to every difficulty. Specifically, by comparing vowel systems in general, the difficult parts in learning Chinese vowels are summed up and then the different teaching methods are stated after.Also, the analysis of consonantisms contains three parts, and the structure is the same as the former one:1. The comparison of consonantisms between Chinese and Portuguese;2. The conclusion of difficulties for Portuguese students learning Chinese consonants;3. The teaching strategies for solutions to every difficulty.The section of teaching strategies is illustrated by two ways:1. The explanation of the phonetic rules;2. The description of teaching methods in detail. This paper is in the hope that to fill the domestic gaps in the contrastive research on phonetics between Chinese and Portuguese and to inspire a bit in teaching Chinese phonetics for Portuguese students.
