A literature translator should strive to deliver in the target language not only the content but also the style of the original text—Stay loyal to the information and make the best effort to retain the flow of words and the charm of the literature piece, thus bringing the reader live to the scenes of the story. The author, in translating selected sections of the novel The Rambrandt Affair by Daniel Silva, where an abundance of cultural elements such as history, geography, fine arts and religion lies, takes into consideration the differences between Western and Oriental cultures, combines literal translation and free translation coupled with transliteration and footnotes, especially on the semantic and syntactic level.
