A Reflective Research Report On The Interpretation Of The Lecture Of "Outline Of China’s National Plan For Medium And Long-term Education Reform And Development" And New Design For China’s Educational Reform And Development

As China assumes an increasingly important role in international affairs and global economy, consecutive interpretation is widely used in political talks, business meetings, lectures and press conferences. In consecutive interpretation, the interpreter listens to the original speech and at the same time, he tries to memorize and understand the original speech with the help of the subject matter, cognitive knowledge and notes taken down. After the speaker finishes a part or the whole of his speech, the interpreter quickly expresses the meaning of the speech in line with the thinking mode of the audience in the target language.Based on the interpretation of a lecture, this thesis uses the writing mode of "translation+reflective research". The author transcribes the two hours’interpretation recording into a note and assesses her performances reflectively adopting relevant translation theories. As little attention has been paid to the reflective research report, the author wants to find out advantages and shortcomings to make self-appraisal and improve the interpretative ability by analyzing the preparation and performances on the scene.This thesis comprises five chapters including introduction and conclusion:Chapter One gives a brief introduction of the background of the seminar and the whole situation of the interpretation and raises the research questions.Chapter Two applies text analysis approach to analyze four important factors:the speaker, the audience, the subject matter and the content and draws corresponding strategies.Chapter Three uses column chart to illustrate the number and the tendency of the errors and makes a quantitive analysis of the faithfulness.Chapter Four annalizes good performances and poor performances and modifies the errors.Chapter Five summarizes the main contents and strategies solving the errors and points out the limitation of the thesis.
