With China seeking to project its soft power on a global basis, international exchanges have become more frequent and more important. In this broad context, translation and interpretation as means of cultural transmission and communication are also playing increasingly salient roles in drawing the world closer together.Toward this end, international conferences, programs, projects, workshops, training sessions and the like are common events that call for quality translation and interpretation to overcome language barriers.Translation and interpretation are conducted by translators and interpreters who serve as the shared tongue of tongues.Competent translators and interpreters are required not only high proficiency of the two languages involved, but also many other traits such as encyclopedic knowledge,a stable psychological state, fit physical buttress and rich experiences.Equally important, the mastery and application of theories are a must in guiding them to successful translation and interpretation.Text analysis theory and interpretive theory are systematic theories that have important guiding roles in interpretation and translation with the principle of grasping, focusing on understanding and conveying the meaning and thoughts of the speaker. This report takes an simulated interpreting task, the author gives an account of what interpreting is like with the interpretive theory as the main reference throughout.Chapter One gives a full transcription of the simulated interpreting practice,on the basis of which the report develops.Chapter Two comes up with the Description of the Interpreting Task.Chapter Three is The Interpreting Process giving us the whole idea about how the interpreting goes.Chapter Four is Case Studies, which contains some cases and cope strategies followed by Chapter Five. The summary part concludes this essay and brings up some thinking about the author herself and the interpreting in the future.
