| This is a translation project report for The Future of the Colored Race inAmerica by William Aikman. With a high value of research, this article was initiallypublished on Presbyterian Quarterly Review in1862. It briefly discusses the historicalnecessity of the abolishment of slavery and predicts the future of the colored race inAmerica. It involves many historical events, specific names and the abolishment ofthe slavery. Through this translation, the author gets to know that right translationmethods and a comprehensive study of the culture play an important role intranslation.This report is divided into four parts: Part One is a description of the translationproject, including the project background, objectives and the structure of the report.Part Two is an introduction to the source text, including the main contents of thesource text and the analysis of the source text. Part Three is a description of thetranslation difficulties and methods. Part Four concludes with the lessons andimplication in the translation project. |
