With the development of economy in our country, increasingly importance has been attached to spiritual and cultural demands, education investment and quality education, which provides a good development opportunity for music education. As an important branch of the whole education system, music education has multiple functions such as the development of human intelligence, imagination, creativity, aesthetic appreciation, and moral education. While social music education, as an integral part of the national music education, determines a country’s national music culture quality in a large scale with its wide coverage and widespread influence, and plays an irreplaceable role in the spread of music culture and improvement of national quality with school music education, family music, In modern society, people’s demand for music education has become more and more widely that people are eager to improve their art accomplishment and comprehensive quality through the study of music. Therefore, more and more people join in the social music learning team.The paper mainly analyzes the current situation of social music education in Zhoukou City, a third class city in Western Henan Province, based on the investigation data collected by the author, points out the existing problems of social musical education in Zhoukou City, and puts forward some measures and suggestions to develop the social music education of the city soundly.
