With the vigorous development of Chinese electric power industry and the application of new technologies, China’s electric equipment has gradually entered the world market. Besides, more and more people begin to come into contact with the electric power English for the growing cooperation with foreign companies. Therefore, more and more attention has been paid to the English translation of electric power so that China’s electric power industry could have better cooperation and communication with foreign partners. This report is written on the basis of the author’s translation practice of WDGL-VI/X Digital fault recorder under the guidance of Nida’s functional equivalence theory, aiming to provide reference to translators engaged in electric power translation. The report consists of six chapters. Chapter one gives a general introduction to the whole report, including the background information, the significance as well as the structure of the report. Chapter two explains the theoretical framework of the report, that is, Nida’s functional equivalence theory. Chapter three fully analyses the source text, such as the features of EST, specification and its form, which are proved by translation instances. Chapter four illustrates the application of the functional equivalence theory in the translation through case analysis from lexical, syntax and stylistic aspects.
