As a kind of planetary gear reducer, planetary servo gear reducer is used in precision motion control applications, reduces speed and interia while increases torque for the servo motor or stepper motor deceleration. The reducer has the most important features such as high transmission accuracy, good rigidity, small backlash, big transmission torque, and widely used in power equipment that requires compact structure. The performances of high precision planetary servo gearhead are very important for the designers and users. Therefore, it is very necessary and meaningful to design a special testing system for the planetary gear reducer.In this paper, with virtual instruments, combined with computing processing analyzing abilities and powerful computer hardware measurement, controlling abilities, designing a high precision, high efficiency, real-time, integrated, intelligent, multi-functional planetary servo reducers static test system for detecting the reducers’ performances such as its hysteresis curve, torsional stiffness, backlash, transmission accuracy, reverse curve, the limit torque.This paper describes the development status of gear reducers’performances and the planetary servo gear reducers working principle. A general design of testing system, including the measured parameters, the composition of test system, test principle and test process. According to the requirements of the overall design, completes the detection hardware system. Using AC servo motor, torque sensor, laser displacement sensor, data acquisition card and other devices, this paper sets up the system hardware platform. Using graphical program software LabVIEW, realizes the function of every hardware instruments communicating, then completes automated testing in accordance with test process.Through the actual application indicates that the test system can complete the performance parameters measurement accurately and efficiency, meet the testing accuracy requirements. The system can test multiple specifications reducers so that it is universal. At the same time the system is easy and user-friendly and good function expansibility.
