Le, as a multi-meaning auxiliary, is difficult to master for foreign learners but it is used very often in Chinese language. Le is also one of the key points in Chinese teaching accompanying by the error use of le. Therefore, we try to analyze le by employing the method of quantitative research based on resources of interlanguage.The thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One mainly introduces the theoretical and practical values of the selected topic, the scope of research and method to be employed, as well as a summary of predecessors’ researches related. After finding out huge amounts of materials, we give a rough summary of the research of le.In Chapter Two, we classify the usage of le into eight types according to the book "Eight hundred words in Chinese" with many examples quoted in this book.Chapter Three studies the output volume of le in interlanguage materials according to the eight different types and summarizes through several tables.Chapter Four deals with the error analysis of the sentences with le, classifying errors into eight groups and describes each of them and try to find out the causes and origins behind them. Then we give some practical suggestions according to the data of error sentences, hoping to have a positive influence on the teaching of le.Chapter Five concludes the whole essay and presents some inadequacies.
