The U.S., Japan and China are important countries in the Asia-Pacific region.The United States and Japan respectively lies in the sides of the Pacific Ocean andChina and Japan are close neighbors separated by a strip of water. The commongeopolitics destined to the common interests of the three countries, but also brings thethree countries more conflicts of interests. The three countries also have been in anintegral community intertwined with interests.In order to ensure their respective interests, the United States and Japan formed aspecial alliance in the Cold War era: the US-Japan alliance. To maintain its globaldominance, especially for the interests in the Pacific, the U.S did not give up theUS-Japan alliance; while, for ranking a “common state”, Japan also need supports ofthe United States. Therefore, the United States-Japan alliance was able to maintainfor six decades.It can be said that Sino-US-Japan trilateral relationship has important influenceon the three countries, the East Asia, and even the whole world. And the US-Japanalliance reflects these complex interests in this region. Not only China affects theUS-Japan alliance, the US-Japan alliance also affects China’s development.Especially in the21st century, this mutual influence has become clearer due toimprovement in the level of the complexity of the tripartite interests.US-Japan alliance has been formed for sixty years. Their alliance surviveddespite of the changing world situation, which also proved that the US-Japan alliancewill be continued in the new century. In addition, with the continuous development ofthe tripartite relationship, we also see that China has been an important factor inUS-Japan alliance which could not be avoided. Such checks and balances played avery important role for the stability and development of East Asia and peace andprogress of the world.
