Since the late1990s, intemet has moved into ordinary Chinese people life. As time goes by, the role of the Internet playing in social life is becoming more and more important and indispensable. Online communities which affect nowadays social life greatly are putting a profound impact on public opinion increasingly by creating hot topics and media orientation.At the same time, the fact that the number of mass incidents putting scope impacts in China has significantly increased in recent years is becoming the greatest variables threatening social stability and economic development. Internet can be seen as a major role in playing in the process of lots of mass incidents happened in China involving ethnic factors.In this paper, the characteristics of mass invents that occurred in China ethnic minority areas are analyzed by combing the domestic internet public opinion research and the study of two relative cases. With the development of the internet, the mode of information transmission is undergoing a profound change that information passing rapidly and widely across time and space boundaries has become a reality. And the new form of information spreading updates the relationship between people in the society. The vigorous development of the Internet breaking through the traditional time and space boundaries formats a new field that reshapes the relationship between people. On the one hand, social events in real community can make use of the network to spread rapidly to achieve a greater range of mobilization; on the other hand, the network also makes a certain effect on the process of mass incidents. This paper concluded by integrating the mass incidents theory and the statistical analysis of the data on the public opinion on two cases occurred in the ethnic areas. Ethnic factor which has been a tool of social mobilization in the network society should been researched in a broader perspective in that Internet public opinion on this factor is not exist in the absolute sense. Because of the corresponding relationship between the virtual community and the real community, it is an effective way to grasp the mechanism of mass incidents using the post-research-oriented beforehand method. Meanwhile, the information society, public opinion is becoming an important vane of identifying the changes in the society development while the internet has been a powerful driving force for shaping social cognition, achieving social mobilization and promoting social cluster development.
