Social Security Ethics Of Confucianism And Its Modern Enlightenment

Chinese Confucianism is of extensive and profound culture. Social security ethics ofConfucianism goes back to ancient times and has a deep impact on the historical development ofChinese society. The idea of establishment of “A Harmony Society”and “A Well-off Society”thatthe ancients have strived for can be regarded as the ideal state of Chinese traditional social securityethics. The central thought of social security ethics of confucianism is “Benevolent love”,“People-centeredness”,“Morality and Law”“A fair distribution system helping eliminate poverty”,“Being economical in expenditure and cherishing manpower”, which are instructive forexamination and perfection of modern social security system.Social security ethics is the theoretical foundation for the establishment of social securitysystem, which stablizes the social order, ensures the peoples’s basic life and promotes harmoniousdevelopment of the society, and further causes people to strive for happier life. Therefore, it hasinstructive significance for the construction of modern social security system. However, with thereform and opening up, ecnomic glolization and wide publicity and overflows of western culturalthoughts, traditional thoughts of Confucianism for Chinese has been gradually freshening, evenmortal crisis arises, which results in the mortal defects of Chinese modern social security ethics.These defects are indicated in different respects: insufficient humanistic concern, imbalanced socialequality, the disconnection between morality and law, weakerness of filial piety and ethics andlower efficiency of organizational ethics. As a result, this thesis attempts to offer powerfultheoretical grounds for the development of contemporary social security cause by abstractingeffiecient ethics from the comprehensive analysis of social security ethics of Confucianism.Meantime, it aims to arouse the interests of many scholars in researches on China’s social securityethics of Confucianism and opens up a new research field.Research ideas and approaches: it begins with the research of social security ethics ofConfucianism and then totally examines the social value of it by identifying its positive role ofsocial security ethics and offering its shortcomings. Then it conduct a systematic analysis of thestatus quo of social security ethics of contemporary China and proposes the countermeasures tomature and perfect modern social security system depending on the reasonable value of socialsecurity ethics of Confucianism.Firstly, social security ethics of Confucianism is generalized and summaried and five primarycontents are abstracted, such as humality,“A fair distribution system helping eliminate poverty”,“Being economical in expenditure and cherishing manpower”,““Filial piety and Ethics” and“Morality and Law”. The social ethics of Confucianism is of analysis of value in positive and negative aspects.Secondly, from the angle of ethical mortality, it reflects on the status quo of China’s socialsecurity ethics, which, for certain, has vital significance for the development of social security cause.At the same time, social security ethics has its own mortal defects in the process of implementation:insufficient humanistic concern, imbalanced social equality, the disconnection between morality andlaw, weakerness of filial piety and ethics and lower efficiency of organizational ethics, which isstrongly correlated with social security ethics of Confucianism and severely affects and impedes thesmooth development of modern social security cause.Ultimately, starting with the contents of social security ethics of Confucianism, it proposes itsimportant relevations for modern social security system and cause: the necessity to adhere to socialsecurity concepts of humanity, abide by equal social security system, mature social securitymechanism of both mortality and law, promote excellent traditional culture of filial piety and ethicsand improve the social security activities of efficiency.
