The Aged Mentality Of One Child Aged-parents In City

On the background that the rapid increase of only-child parents, the aging of the population structure and the weakness in the current study on the subjective aspect of one child parents’aged problem, the author think that it is important to solve the aged problem of one child parents properly which is not only related to the societal harmonious but also the people especially one child parents’confidence who had made sacrifices and contributions on controlling population growth. So it is important to understand aged mentality of one child parents, eliminate and ease their negative mentality, which are also important aspects to handle the aged problem of one child parents properly.After combing the present research about the aged problem of the one child parents and analyzing the aged mentality of one child parents, this paper based on two survey databases("the status and desire of the elderly in Zhabei district of Shanghai" and "the status and desire of the one child parents in Zhabei district of Shanghai"), conducted the aged mentality of one child aged-parents characteristics, differences and dynamic changes analysis and comparison by the method of interactive analysis and regression analysis from three dimensions:the mentality and understanding of present living conditions,the choices of means and concerns of provision for the aged in the future. And this paper analyzes four main issues as the overall situation of the urban one child aged-parents, the differences of the aged mentality between the urban one child aged-parents and non-one-child aged-parents, the aged mentality dynamic change of urban one child aged-parents and the influencing factors of urban one child parents’different mentality.The findings indicated that the proportion of negative aged mentality of young age group one child parents higher than the old age group in ages50-64. Health problems are one child aged-parents’most worried problem. The self-support awareness of only-child aged-parents is not strong. The desire of some one child aged-parents is not clear. There are some obvious differences between the one child aged-parents and non-one-child aged-parents on aged mentality. The one child aged-parents are in favor of divide but not separate living style, and the influences of the spouse’s status to the only-child aged-parents should not be ignored. With the changes of age, some important changes occurred on one child aged-parents. The economic and social factors affect the one child age-parents’aged mentality more obvious. Based on the above conclusions and founds, this paper makes suggestions to solve the aged problem of one child parents properly.
