How The Improve The Accountability In China’s Food Safety Regulatory System

Food safety is a major livelihood issue, it has relationship with people’s health and safety, even with the harmony and stability of the society. Food safety is a social problem that has a good reason to attract the public attention, the frequently happened food safety incidents every year in China in recent years have always been wake-up calls for us. Nowadays, the food safety problem in China has become a core issue that causes widespread attention of the whole society.The severe situation of China’s food safety problem is the result of the conjunction of multi-angle and multi-level causes. There have been many researches conducted by scholars on how to improve China’s food safety regulatory system, relative laws and regulations, and other issues. However, there lacks researches on how to strengthen the mechanisms to make food safety regulators be responsible to their own malpractice, and how to improve and implement accountability in China’s food safety regulatory system. We need to improve the food safety regulatory accountability to help plug up loopholes in food safety regulatory system, and form a positive, efficient, whole-process and long-term supervision mechanism, and thus help to improve China’s food safety situation.This paper takes reference of the research results about China’s food safety regulatory system that the scholars have formed. It makes contrast and analyzes advanced experience of food safety regulatory system in other countries and areas, analyzes the shortcomings and loopholes existing in China’s food safety regulatory accountability and make suggestions for the problems.This paper is divided into three parts, the first part is a summary of the accountability in food safety regulatory system. The second part analyzes the recent situation of China’s food safety regulatory accountability. In the end of the paper, suggestions are made on the improvement of the accountability in China’s food safety regulatory system. The suggestions put forward include to establish and improve the system of food safety regulatory accountability and change the situation that food safety regulatory accountability is always implemented after the food safety incidents happened.
