South-to-north Water Transfer Project is large-scale water conservancy engineering, which is second to The Three Gorges. A large number of reservoir migrants appeared with great economic and social benefits produced by the engineering. The author tried to present their process of adaptation vividly through the daily life events of reservoir Migrants. And based on all of those, the author analyzed the adaptive strategies by inspect their interaction with the local residents and government.This article studied the process of adaptation of Migrants from four aspects, such as daily life, productive labor, family economy, interpersonal relationship. The study shows that the process of Migrants’adaptation in these four aspects was not synchronized. In daily life, the Migrants have adapted the local life after continual readjustment in spite of so many changes in their living conditions. As to the productive labor, mechanized production and scientific farming have been achieving gradually by learning the technology from the local people. While in face of the family economic distress, Migrants not only rely on the government, but also actively seek opportunities to make money to improve their own economic conditions. In social relationship, the Migrants actively integrated into the local contacts by means of various methods to increase interaction. However, it would be a long time for the Migrants to be a’local’totally.The results of the study show that there are some common things in the adaptive strategies of all Migrants on the basis of analyzing their adaptive strategies. Those are getting the most out of the routine life experience, studying new knowledge and skills according to reality requires and developing new relationships.
