Since The New Gui Clique unified Guangxi, as it established the Guangxi provincial government in1926, until its wane in1949, the New Gui Clique had dominated Guangxi up to20years, to become one of the most influential local ruling forces of the Republic of China. In order to consolidate the rule, the Guangxi provincial government had adopted a series of measures to crack down the banditry and eventually made Guangxi a whole new province with less bandits, satisfactory social order and comprehensive development of various undertakings. This paper focuses on the study of the Guangxi government management on banditry during1926to1941.This article is divided into three parts-introduction, body, and conclusion, where the body part consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with the rampant banditry in Guangxi during the Republic of China Period, including the type of banditry and its detrimental impact on public order, national education and economy. Via analysis the second chapter draws a conclusion that complex natural environment, chaotic politics,’combative’ folk custom, continuous natural disaster and the lack of education etc. are the causes of rampant banditry in Guangxi. Chapter three and four are the core content of this article, which discourses the management on banditry, its effect and appraisal respectively. These two chapters focus on the measures been taken through three different aspects-military, economic and educational controls, where the government suppressed the tyrants and established new militia, implemented the policy of ’self-sufficiency’ to promote the mining industry and develop livelihood and economy, intensify the national education to take control of banditry and robberies. There measurements not only provided a secure society for Guangxi but also guaranteed the further development of military, politics, economy and cultural careers. Guangxi is globally known as ’model province of the Three People’s Principle’ for its moral politics and peaceful social order, and its disciplined military had left a profound impression on the society.
