Physical education teaching content is an essential part of PE curriculum reform. At present,there is little research on physical education teaching content in our country, especially in ruralsecondary schools. Therefore, the study on current situation of secondary schools in rural areashas significant practical meanings to enrich this reform, to accelerate the process, to promote andbuild this system.Through documentation, expert interviews, questionnaires, statistics analysis, logic analysisand others research methods, this article aims at investigating physical education teachers andstudents, we designed the questionnaires about the current physical education condition forteachers and students in Ganzhou rural areas, randomly selected55PE teachers and600studentsfrom20rural secondary schools in Ganzhou Municipality’s18counties.From the surveys we get the conclusion that, the situation of physical education staff is not sooptimistic in Ganzhou rural secondary schools. The implementation of "Sports and Health CourseStandard" is not ideal, the arrangement of teaching do not meet the requirements of students’ andsociety’s development. Those schools pay little attention to teaching the elementary knowledge ofphysical education. The following suggestions are put forward based on the local situation:strengthening the development of rural physical teachers to promote the development of schoolsphysical education. We should stimulate students’ positivity and initiative to make the physicalteaching more colorful. The funds of school physical education should be increased to improve theinfrastructure and field. Folk physical education resources should be fully exploited and made fulluse.
