Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture is located in Southwest of SichuanProvince, southwest of China, is the country’s biggest region in which Yi nationalityinhabited. For a long time, the region’s economy and national education has been inthe backward due to the restrictions of natural, historical and geographical factors.Under the background of harmonious society and on the basis of the local actualconditions, how to promote the sound and rapid development of national education,how to promote education equality and quality enhancement, and how to realize thegreat-leap-forward development of national education, these questions are theobjectives of this research project. This thesis conducts the research on thedevelopment of ethnic education in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture from fouraspects, in order to explore the regularity of the development of ethnic education.The introduction part mainly introduces the research background, researchsignificance, literature review of the domestic and foreign research, research ideas,contents and methods, innovation and shortcomings of this thesis. In accordance withthe requirement of the “12th Five-Year Plan” from the National EducationDevelopment Project, this part concentrates on the analysis of the present situation ofthe development of ethnic education in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, toexplore the prospects for the development of the ethnic education.Chapter One: Ethnic Education Theory and the Analysis of the HarmoniousSociety. It mainly introduces the theory of bilingual education, equal opportunity ofeducation theory, balanced development of education theory. Chapter one alsoanalyzes the important role the ethnic education plays and the political, economicand cultural significance it serves in the construction of the socialist harmonioussociety.The second chapter introduces the development of the ethnic education and itsexisting problems in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. It conducts the cases ofthe Ganluo County, Zhaojue, County and Meigu County, to reflect the realistic issuesof the development of the ethnic education of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecturein the new era from the perspective of the bilingual education, equal opportunity ofeducation, and balanced development of education.The third chapter analyzes the various factors restricting the ethnic educationdevelopment of the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, including factors ofenvironment, policy, and the concept.Chapter four presents the basic principles, countermeasures and suggestions for the ethnic education development in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. Namely,adhering to the principles of integration of education system and multiculturaleducation, persisting in the reform and opening up policy, and constantlyemancipating the mind and keeping pace with the times, adhering to the principle ofproceeding from reality, fully considering the national and regional characteristics,adhering to the various principles of educational equilibrium, the ethnic educationserving for the harmonious rural construction, and respectively from the national, thelocal government, the school, and the family aspects, this thesis proposes thecountermeasures and suggestions for promoting the leapfrog development of theethnic education in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
