The specialty construction of higher education is tightly integrated with the economy. Highereducation, as professional education, trains talents according to their majors. Specialtystructure must be commensurate with the current industry structure; employment systemreform also requires specialty structure adjustment. Therefore, one of the most importantfactors contributing to employment difficulty of college students is the issue of professionalstructure, that specialty in colleges and universities does not meet the needs of the marketand creates employment difficulties. So, researching industrial structure and the speciality incolleges and universities, is a subject of great importance.This article, at the basis of analyzing and comparing Guangdong’s industrial structure,employment structure in recent years and the professional structure’s present situation, findsthat the general trends among the industrial structure, employment structure and theprofessional structure in colleges and universities. And then bases on input-output tables in2002and2007, uses input-output method respectively to quantitatively study on theabsorptive capacity for employment in different sectors, combines with forward andbackward, variation coefficient, and other associated indicators, comprehensively analyzesabsorptive capacity of the industry employment and ability to spread to employment,lastcomprehensively studies a range of indicators and identifies some key sectors which effectsemployment, and then apply the grey relative analysis on Guangdong professional structureand industrial structure. According to the above analysis, the article finally provides anumber of recommendations on employment promotion policy, reform of higher educationin Guangdong and the optimization and transformation of the industrial structure.
