Nowadays we can not live without technology which has become part of our learningand life. In our daily life, we always contact with products of basic necessities, andmany of them are produced by science and technology. Everyone needs to have acertain degree of technical literacy in modern society. With the advent of theinformation society and the vigorously promotion of social basic education curriculum,more and more people are starting to focus on IT education. The quality of IT teachingmaterials is directly related to the results carried out by the IT education. Textbook isteaching reference, and is the bearer of student learning, teaching materials is obviouslyvery important in the process of IT teaching.Through a survey of high school "Basis for Information Technology" textbooks, aconclusion can be drawn: the content of textbook itself is outdated, and the form is single,which can not meet the personalized needs of students; textbook content repeated layout,which make the students learn repeatedly and they will get bored more easily; duringthe selection of teaching materials, schools are not well according to their own students’actual cognitive and intellectual level, which lead to the teaching materials are notapplicable; textbooks are selected from more authoritative published materials whichhave high academic standards and better quality, but the pity is there is no localcharacteristics and there is no intimacy when students learned;textbook content andstudents’ daily life can not contact closely,and its integration ability with otherdisciplines is poor.The paper is according to the theory of holistic education, with reference to therequirements of the "Survey of Information Technology Curriculum Guidelines (Trial)"and "Basic Education Curriculum Reform Program (Trial)". For the aforementionedproblems of IT materials, the author makes a detailed and comprehensive analysis andcomb to High school IT teaching materials. The design ideas and principles of highschool IT teaching materials based on holistic education theory are summaried. Whichis firstly get the first–hand information and data through the form of questionnaires,interviews and field observations; based on this, the author conducts needs analysis,design, preparation, trial work to chapters which will be developed in InformationProcessing and Expression. Then, through teaching practice and post-survey, somepractice effects of new developed chapters are obtained: the developed chapters ofInformation Processing and Expression are more suitable to the needs of "Survey ofInformation Technology Curriculum Guidelines (Trial)","Basic Education CurriculumReform Program (Trial)" and “High School IT Curriculum Standards”; the contentarrangement more suitable; the content selection is more closer to the real life ofstudents; arranged tasks or activities is better meet the learning needs of students atdifferent levels; pictures and specific examples designed in the book is more focusing on the teaching content; the arrangement of activities or tasks are better reflecting thestudents own experience; the teaching results reflect on the cultivation of students’autonomy; the teaching effectiveness focuses on the cultivation of students’three-dimensional target.
