With the rapid development of socialist market economy, higher education has entered popular stage in our country. The situation of getting a job has become more and more severe since graduates’expansion in 1999. Therefore, how to launch the university student vocational career education under new circumstances has already drawn common concern of the society, which becomes a new problem, a new task the present higher education faces. The vocational career education annotation is the humanist principle and takes human’s freedom full scale development as ultimate objective education idea, which plays a significant role in the development of the individual, the university and the society. Nowadays, the vocational career education in foreign developed countries has formed relatively intact theoretical system and practical system after several years’ development. However, due to the social history reason in our country, the history of vocational career education is very short; the vocational career education is also at the initial stage and has many insufficiencies.This thesis on the basis of the research in hand, from the pedagogy, the psychology, the sociology and so on the multi-disciplinary angles, takes the correlation theories as the instruction, makes use of methods of literature research techniques, comparison test and questionnaire investigation to carry on the quite thorough system discussion on the university student vocational career education:First of all, this thesis defines the concepts in respect to the vocational career education, clarifies the meaning of vocation, vocational career and vocational career planning, puts forward the specific meaning of the university student vocational career education on the foundation of defining the meaning of vocational career education, that is, according to the characteristics of the university student himself or herself, the university student vocational career education has the plan to carry on overall educational activities aiming at realizing the sustainable vocational development of the university student, which leaves a theoretical foundation for the research of this thesis. Then, combined with statistical outcome of questionnaire investigation, this thesis elaborates the present situation and its problems of the university student vocational career education in our country from the university student individual’s and the university’s angles respectively, finds out the reasons that lead to these problems involving the weak foundation of vocational career education in our country and its stagnant and backward development, no enough attention and organizational assurance, in lack of the social environment of vocational career education, the ignorance of self cultivation of vocational quality for the university student, etc. On this foundation, this thesis elaborates the contents and characteristics of the university student vocational career education in foreign countries and its experience we can draw lessons from. Finally, this thesis proposes overall conceptions of the university student vocational career education. We should build the university student vocational career education system which is helpful to realize overall, free, sustainable vocational development of the university student under the guidance of the ideas of revolving around the university student, whole life development, through the whole process of education, taking the comprehensive strength of the university, the family and the society as guarantee.
